What a way to start the long weekend. (Here in the United States, it’s the Labor Day weekend, which signals the end of Summer and the start of back to school, and all things Fall related. I often equate the start of school to a fresh start with a lot of things.
In line with that, we got wonderful news this morning. About 11 or so, my daughter called me and I conferenced in the other daughter so we could all 3 hear at the same time. Baby does * not * have Down Syndrome! Elevated HCG count was from her “unusual” placenta, which I suspected after it was explained to us, but whenever they tell you there’s a risk for anything and you’re unprepared, it’s a shock. So, we were really relieved with this news.
In addition, we found out that definitively – without a doubt because they looked at the chromosomes, not just how baby was presenting in an ultrasound – the baby is a GIRL. This means I now will have two granddaughters and two grandsons. I’m so excited.

And how cute are these shoes? I may just have to purchase them even though they are ridiculously expensive for baby shoes.
I haven’t been sewing since last Christmas, and I’m itching to get back at it. I have all sorts of fabrics that are girly-girl – including my daughter’s favorite, Tinkerbell – and I can’t wait to start sewing up receiving blankets, quilts, dresses, and planning some future coordinating outfits for my oldest granddaughter (who is
and the new baby. My daughter has no income to speak of and I can’t afford to buy her everything she needs, so I expect I’ll be doing a lot of creative sewing in the coming months. Perfect timing because the weather is starting to change, and that means outdoor activities will be less frequent.
Finally, thank you *all * for your prayers and support. It meant a lot to me, truly. Even though we know there are no birth defects to deal with, her pregnancy is still high risk and she’ll have to be watched closely. This is at least one less thing to worry about.

WOO HOO!!!
Terri, definitely doing the happy dance.
Congratulations on the good news! Imagine everyone is *tickled pink” ! If the thought of making a zillion and one adorable creations for this future darling granddaughter doesn’t make you want to sew, then nothing ever will! I hope your daughter has a very healthy and happy pregnancy and am sending prayers and best wishes for the months to come.
You knew the comment from “Belle” was me, right?
I keep forgetting to change that!
I’ll reply here to both your comments – nope, didn’t immediately know Belle was you, Bev, but I’m so grateful for your comments. And thank you for following me over here too! I can’t wait to get started sewing, believe it or not.
Guess the timing is right.
