Fabric. Seriously. I want to make this dress and I can’t for the life of me find this plaid (or is it a tartan?) I’ve searched almost every online fabric site, even emailed one great site (no response) and I can’t find it.
So, I’m throwing out the request to any of my bloggy buddies who sew or know fabric to help me find this plaid. I want to make the dress *exactly* like it is on the model. The most important feature in the fabric that I’m concerned with is the size of the repeat. If the plaid is more purples than red, or another color, that’s fine, but I am looking for the black base and large pattern. I think the larger repeat is more flattering on me than a smaller repeat.
To coordinate with the dress, I bought these boots this week online – got an additional 20% off – gotta love that. Just hoping they’ll fit! I’ve not worn boots in years, and I’m feeling confident that I can fit in these.
So, if I can find the fabric, that dress with the boots will be my Christmas outfit this year. And I promise to get pictures even if I have to lug out the tripod and do it myself.

I did a quick search of plaid fabrics and I found a good website http://www.thescottishweaver.com. If you look under the popular wool tartan section, I think the Stewart black-5th row down, 4th one over-looks very close to what you are looking for or it could even be the same. Hope that helps.
Julie – I got the boots from Kohls online. They’re about half off right now, plus I got an additional 20% off. Couldn’t say no to that offer!
I saw that site and even looked at that fabric – it’s very close with a bit more blue and yellow than I’d like. I clicked away when I saw the price per yard. I’d need about 2 yards, even at 60″ wide, in order to match the plaid. That would be one expensive dress – but….. if it’s the closest I can get, I might splurge. First though, I’d have to try the dress in a cheap fabric to fit it right.
First of all, those boots are hot!! And don’t ask me why, but for some reason, I’ve been looking at boots this year too. As for plaid, I’m sorry but I just won’t go there! I have a difficult enough time sewing a straight line. But if you find something you like, and it’s expensive? Who cares!!!! Go for it!! And I want to see pictures!
I didn’t even look at the price per yard on the plaid-I only looked at the colors. I will have to check out the boots-thanks.
