Who Takes Care of the Caretaker?

January 6, 2012

This is a question that has been running through my head for quite some time. It’s not a thought emanating from a feeling of self-pity. Well, okay, maybe once in a blue moon, although I’m not one prone to a lot of self-pity. It’s more a thought that somehow, some way, there should be caretakers [...]

My Holiday Home

December 25, 2011

Doggie coats and Santa hats. Seahawks, of course. Cheap and easy decorating: Mason jar, glass pebbles, cranberries, and branches. Whimsy. Candy cane wrapping paper. And real ones. A welcoming entry. Christmas kitty. A mistletoe kissing ball. (One can wish, right?) Room for family and friends. And even more family and friends. That’s the idea anyway.

T.G.I.F.O.

December 25, 2011

Thank God It’s Finally Over! (Blatantly stolen from a friend on Facebook.) That sums up a lot for me. <<— Maybe Lily agrees? I’m glad the year is nearly over. I have much to be grateful for, but there is  much that I will not be sad to see the door hit it on the [...]

Ready or Not.

December 19, 2011

Sigh. Every year it’s the same. I leave things until the last minute. I get melancholy (mildly depressed) when I read about all the lovely decorating and preparations people are doing for Christmas. I am an overachiever who fears underachieving. It’s less than a week until Christmas and I have no presents to wrap for [...]

My Little Mancubs

November 14, 2011

Last Friday night my daughter – who was celebrating her birthday on 11/11/11 – had a party. That meant I got to be the babysitter for the two little mancubs. (My youngest daughter coined that term and I love it.) I was so excited to see them and spend some quality time with them. Apologies [...]

It Goes Without Saying

November 13, 2011

For someone who is pretty opinionated (<<– me), I’ve been pretty quiet on my blog. I wanted to do a daily post of what I’m grateful for, but after a few days I realized that for anyone who might be reading, that could get boring pretty fast. Sort of like the teacher’s voice in the [...]

Sofa Shopping

November 8, 2011

I can’t think of anything harder to shop for than a sofa. They are expensive and not easily swapped out if you don’t like it without losing a lot of money. Harder to shop for than a car, I’d say. I need sofas. Badly. All I have right now are a couple of black leather [...]

Gratitude Day 7, 8

November 8, 2011

My little puppy, Lily, isn’t much of a puppy anymore. She’ll be four in the spring, but she is my perpetual puppy and my companion these days. She goes with me just about everywhere. On days when I can’t take her along (too long in the car and it’s cold out) my youngest watches her [...]

Writing Gratitude Lists

November 6, 2011

Some may wonder why write a gratitude list? What’s the point when you might be feeling so low that it is hard to fathom one good thing in your life? Bah-hum-bug. Pollyanna stuff and all that. Life’s tough. Bad things happen to good people. No one said life was fair. Yep, all that’s true and [...]

Gratitude Month – Day 4 & 5

November 5, 2011

I’m grateful for: Being able to live in this beautiful neighborhood with that view on a sunny fall day. (Picture taken October 17.) A warm gas fireplace when it’s cold outside. Although every time I look at that fireplace I want to rip that builder-grade tile off the face of it and redo the whole [...]
